AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER SERVICES IN NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Three million dollars ($3,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 to fund autism spectrum disorder services as follows:

                (1) to the department of health in the following amounts:

                     (a) one million dollars ($1,000,000) to support expanded diagnostic services for individuals suspected of having autism spectrum disorder;

                     (b) one million dollars ($1,000,000) for intensive interventions and adaptive skill-building services for individuals with autism spectrum disorder; and

                     (c) five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for professional development and training for providers of autism spectrum disorder services; and

                (2) to the higher education department, five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for professional development and training for teachers of children with autism spectrum disorder. 

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
