AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE VETERANS' SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO PLACE AN APPROPRIATE MONUMENT TO HONOR NEW MEXICO'S BUFFALO SOLDIERS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the veterans' services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 to place an appropriate monument to honor the rich legacy left to all New Mexicans by the buffalo soldiers, who served and protected New Mexico following the Civil War and left succeeding generations better off for their service; provided that twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) in matching funds is made available from other sources to complete the project. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
