AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A MANUFACTURING SKILLS PROGRAM.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal years 2010 and 2011 to establish a manufacturing skills program for high school elective courses that lead to certification approved by the federal manufacturing skill standards board. The program may be offered through the statewide cyber academy or New Mexico community colleges. The appropriation may be expended to train teachers, purchase software and provide other necessary infrastructure for the program. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2011 shall revert to the general fund.
