AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR A HOSPITAL CLINICAL LABORATORY TESTING USE PROJECT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal years 2010 and 2011 to fund a demonstration project intended to reduce the use of laboratory testing within hospital settings in New Mexico. The department shall develop standards for the project and may expend funds to contract with a clinical laboratory for the purposes of this appropriation. The department of health may seek federal matching funds and private funds for the demonstration project. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2011 shall revert to the general fund.
