AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE JUDGES WITH COMPREHENSIVE BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT CRIMINAL DEFENDANTS POSTING BOND OR RESPONDING TO CRIMINAL SUMMONSES IN BERNALILLO COUNTY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred ninety-eight thousand two hundred dollars ($298,200) is appropriated from the general fund to the Bernalillo county metropolitan court for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 to hire staff to perform comprehensive background investigations of defendants posting bond at the Bernalillo county metropolitan court or the metropolitan detention center or responding to criminal summonses at the Bernalillo county metropolitan court. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
