AN ACT

RELATING TO MARRIAGE; DEFINING MARRIAGE AS THE UNION BETWEEN ONE MAN AND ONE WOMAN.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. MARRIAGE--DEFINED.--Marriage in this state shall consist only of the union between one man and one woman.

     Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the provisions of this act is July 1, 2009.
