FOR THE WELFARE REFORM OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT FOR EXPANSION OF PROGRAM CAPACITY FOR ADULT EDUCATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four million dollars ($4,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the higher education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2010 to expand adult education program capacity, including adult basic education, general educational development certificate programs and English as a second language programs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
