AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NEW MEXICO LIVESTOCK BOARD FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ELIMINATING BOVINE TUBERCULOSIS FROM THE STATE AND RETURNING THE STATE TO BOVINE TUBERCULOSIS-FREE STATUS WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New Mexico livestock board for expenditure in fiscal years 2009 and 2010 for expenses related to eliminating bovine tuberculosis in the state, preventing further incursion of bovine tuberculosis into the state and returning the state to bovine tuberculosis-free status with the United States department of agriculture. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
