A MEMORIAL
DECLARING JANUARY 22, 2008 AS "JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT DAY" AT THE LEGISLATURE.
WHEREAS, junior achievement of New Mexico is celebrating its fifteenth year of operation during the 2008 calendar year; and
WHEREAS, the organization is dedicated to educating students in kindergarten through twelfth grade about entrepreneurship, work readiness and financial literacy through hands-on programs; and
WHEREAS, junior achievement of New Mexico has expanded its activities to include a variety of classroom-based, after-school settings and capstone experiences, as well as special initiatives for Native American and Hispanic students throughout the state; and
WHEREAS, more than one hundred fifteen thousand students have benefited from the organization's programs over the last fifteen years; and
WHEREAS, junior achievement of New Mexico volunteers inspire and empower students to believe in themselves, showing them that they can make a difference in the world;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that, in recognition of junior achievement of New Mexico's service to the youth of the state, January 22, 2008 be declared "Junior Achievement Day" at the legislature.
