A MEMORIAL
REQUESTING SUPPORT FOR THE SANTA FE REGIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS COALITION.
WHEREAS, the Santa Fe regional telecommunications coalition was created to organize primary telecommunications bandwidth users in the Santa Fe region with participation from Santa Fe county, the city of Santa Fe, Santa Fe community college and the university of New Mexico-New Mexico lambda rail or a successor agency or organization; and
WHEREAS, enhanced telecommunications infrastructure meets regional and local economic development goals, enhancement of regional emergency services, e-government, telehealth, education and research opportunities and improved quality of life for the Santa Fe region; and
WHEREAS, the Santa Fe regional telecommunications coalition is a model for regional telecommunications infrastructure initiatives that can be adopted by other regions, counties and municipalities and support for this model would benefit both the Santa Fe region and the state of New Mexico;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the secretary of information technology be requested to work with the Santa Fe regional telecommunications coalition; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the governor's science and technology advisor be requested to work with the Santa Fe regional telecommunications coalition to arrange for the installation of a gateway to the New Mexico computing applications center at Santa Fe community college as a connection to the New Mexico lambda rail for the Santa Fe regional telecommunications coalition region; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the secretary of information technology, the governor's science and technology advisor, the New Mexico computing applications center at Santa Fe community college and the Santa Fe regional telecommunications coalition.
