committees of the NM Legislature. The LFC does not assume responsibility for the accuracy of these reports

if they are used for other purposes.

Current FIRs (in HTML & Adobe PDF formats) are a vailable on the NM Legislative Website (legis.state.nm.us).

Adobe PDF versions include all attachments, whereas HTML versions may not. Previously issued FIRs and

attachments may be obtained from the LFC in Suite 101 of the State Capitol Building North.

Synopsis of Bill

Senate Joint Resolution 3 proposes to amend Article 4 of the Constitution of New Mexico by

adding a new section. In the new section, persons serving as:

Speaker of the House

•

President Pro Tempore of the Senate

•

Majority Floor Leaders

•

Minority Floor Leaders

•

Majority Whips

•

Minority Whips and

•

Committee Chairs

would be limited, in any one position, to eight consecutive regular legislative sessions of service

without an intervening two regular legislative sessions for either House Members or Senate

Members.

The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be submitted to the people for their approval or

rejection at the next general election or at any special election prior to that date that may be

called for that purpose.
