Senate Joint Memorial 22 (SJM 22) proclaims February 6, 2008 as “Santa Fe Community
College Day" at the Legislature to honor and showcase the talents of its students and the
contribution and commitment of Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) to its students and to the
community. A copy of this Memorial is to be transmitted to the President of the Santa Fe
Community College (SFCC).
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Memorial indicates as follows:
Each year, Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) serves 145,500 students from
throughout northern and central New Mexico.
Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) provides affordable, accessible opportunities that
enhance quality of life through academic, career and personal-enrichment programs.
Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) curricula assist students of all ages and skill levels
to acquire the necessary knowledge to ensure a successful future.
Students at Santa Fe Community College (SFCC) can pursue everything from Culinary
Arts to Human Services and from Adult Basic Education to specialized work for training,
design, teaching, nursing programs, as well as wide range of business degrees and
continuing education.
SFCC has nurtured and fostered a student-centered educational environment within a set
of quality core values.
SFCC and it governing board, administration, faculty and staff believe strongly in the
mission of the college, which is “helping students succeed and serving our community."

WHAT WILL BE THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT ENACTING THIS BILL
The representatives, citizens, and visitors of New Mexico will not be able to enjoy the talents of
its local students from SFCC and recognize the contribution and commitment of SFCC to its
students and to the community.
