SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 385 relates to setting health care provider reimbursement rates for health care
delivered to persons in county jail custody.
Senate Bill 385 contemplates paying both Medicaid and non-Medicaid providers the lowest
dollar rate for County jail services. This lowest dollar rate charged would be equal to the same
rate for care provided to any other payer.
This Senate Bill also requests that such providers publish their rates.
Counties may also enter into agreements to set different rate with providers.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
No funding is requested with this Senate Bill. However, the Bill’s effect is to promote and insure
that medical providers charge the lowest rates for County jail services. Savings to county funds
are unknown.
