SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 261 appropriates $75 thousand from the general fund to Cultural Affairs department
for the purpose of conducting a program to honor Chimayo valley elders, teaching arts and crafts
to Chimayo-area youth, a high school art show in Espanola, tours of Chimayo-area arts business
and artists, and an oral history of the Chimayo area.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $75 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the General
Fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY09 shall revert to
the General Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Chimayo area is rich with cultural traditions and funding in Senate Bill 261 may provide
opportunities to expand programs that celebrate the community’s arts resources. The
