SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 220 appropriates $100,000 from the General Fund to the Board of Regents of
Northern New Mexico College (NNMC). Funding would be used to plan and implement a
celebration of the college’s one hundredth anniversary.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) contained in this bill is a non-
recurring expense to the General Fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at
the end of Fiscal Year 2009 shall revert to the General Fund.
This request was not submitted to the New Mexico Higher Education Department for review and
is not included in the Department’s legislative recommendation for FY09.

the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2008 the institution will celebrate its
one hundredth anniversary. This occasion provides opportunity to showcase the college’s rich
history and vibrant future including its functional transitions over the years and its Alumni
Association consisting of many distinguished New Mexico citizens.
According to the college president, this request would supplement the expenditure involved with
planning and implementing a celebration of the college’s one hundredth anniversary. Multiple
celebrations are planned throughout the year culminating in a reception on the exact day of the
anniversary. In addition to planning and implementation of anniversary events, funding would
support the production and printing of a publication highlighting the evolution of the institution
from its inception to its current roles and contributions to the state. Research and articles that are
going into this publication have been done ‘in kind’.
