SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 463, Making an Appropriation for Computer Clubhouses in Bernalillo County,
appropriates $100.0 thousand from the general fund to DFA for the purpose of staffing and
operational expenses for computer clubhouses.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $100.0 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY09 shall not revert to
the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
DFA notes that there are more than 100 computer clubhouses located worldwide. Bernalillo
County is the home to 3 locations. The computer clubhouse is a program that uses technology to
assist under-served youth to acquire the tools, problem solving skills, and confidence necessary
for a successful future.
