SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 202 appropriates $402.0 from the general fund to the Board of Regents of New
Mexico Highlands University to fund the Center for the Education and Study of Diverse
Populations.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $402.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the
general fund.
The HED states that a request was submitted by NMHU in the amount of $402,000 to the New
Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) for review. The request is an increase of
$171,100 to the current recurring funding. The Department’s executive funding recommendation
for FY09 is a continuance of FY08 recurring funding in the amount of $230,900 with no
additional funding at this time.
