AN ACT

RELATING TO AIR TRANSPORTATION; PROVIDING FOR A STUDY TO IDENTIFY NECESSARY AIR TRANSPORTATION NEEDS IN NEW MEXICO; MAKING APPROPRIATIONS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. TEMPORARY PROVISION--STUDY OF AIR TRANSPORTATION NEEDS.--By September 1, 2008, the general services department shall conduct a study to identify necessary air transportation needs in New Mexico and the funding required in fiscal year 2009 to meet those needs.

     Section 2. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. The following amounts are appropriated from the general fund to the general services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 for the following purposes:

                (1) two million five hundred thousand dollars ($2,500,000) to renovate an aviation readiness center in Santa Fe; and

                (2) two million five hundred thousand dollars ($2,500,000) for other necessary air transportation needs as identified by a study conducted by the general services department pursuant to Section 1 of this 2008 act.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
