AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR A HOSPITAL CLINICAL LABORATORY TESTING USE PROJECT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal years 2009 and 2010 to fund a pilot project intended to reduce the use of laboratory testing within hospital settings in New Mexico. The department shall develop standards for the pilot project and may expend funds to contract with a clinical laboratory for the purposes of this appropriation. The department of health shall seek federal matching funds for the pilot project. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2010 shall revert to the general fund.
