AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO STUDY INNOVATIONS EMERGING FROM CHARTER SCHOOLS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to study the innovations that are emerging from New Mexico charter schools and to report on those innovations to the legislative education study committee, the state school boards association and the state superintendents association. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
