AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO PROVIDE AN EIGHT PERCENT SALARY INCREASE FOR THE STATE POLICE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million nine hundred forty-seven thousand nine hundred sixty dollars ($2,947,960) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to provide an eight percent salary increase for the state police. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
