AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE LAS VEGAS POLICE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS IN LAS VEGAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 and subsequent fiscal years to provide Las Vegas police department school resource officers in the Las Vegas city public school district and the west Las Vegas public school district. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
