AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A HEALTH CAREERS PATHWAY TO HELP BRING STUDENTS INTO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER PROGRAMS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Four hundred fifteen thousand dollars ($415,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to provide funding for the health sciences center to encourage underrepresented students and retain them in the health sciences field and health professions. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
