AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE VETERANS' SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO PLACE AN APPROPRIATE MONUMENT TO HONOR NEW MEXICO'S BUFFALO SOLDIERS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Sixty thousand dollars ($60,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the veterans' services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to place an appropriate monument to honor the rich legacy left to all New Mexicans by the buffalo soldiers, who served and protected New Mexico following the Civil War and left succeeding generations better off for their service. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
