    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

SENATE BILL 28

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

    1. On page 1, line 11, strike "AN APPROPRIATION" and insert in lieu thereof "APPROPRIATIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO AND".

    2. On page 1, after line 24, insert the following new section to read:

    "Section 2. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to expand the communications disorders program to increase the number of speech-language pathologists in the public schools. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.".,

and thence referred to the FINANCE COMMITTEE.
