AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO PROMOTE FINANCIAL LITERACY EDUCATION AND DEVELOP A CURRICULUM FOR USE IN NEW MEXICO'S SCHOOLS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to promote financial literacy education and develop a curriculum for use in New Mexico's schools. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
