AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO SUPPORT PROGRAMS THAT PROMOTE THE IMPORTANCE OF CIVIC EDUCATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to support programs that promote the importance of civic education. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
