AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO CONDUCT BASELINE ASSESSMENTS OF BRAIN FUNCTION OF NEW MEXICO NATIONAL GUARD PERSONNEL AND THEIR SPOUSES BEFORE AND AFTER NATIONAL GUARD PERSONNEL ARE DEPLOYED TO A WAR ZONE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal years 2009 through 2011 to support a pilot program using proven advanced technology to conduct baseline assessments of brain function of New Mexico national guard personnel and their spouses before national guard personnel are deployed to a war zone. That technology will be used in the treatment and rehabilitation of national guard personnel suffering from brain injury. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2011 shall revert to the general fund.
