AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A JUSTICE CONFERENCE TO IMPROVE THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 for Bernalillo county to host a justice conference that will bring together district attorneys, judges, jail administrators, attorneys, legislators, business leaders and media members to create solutions to improve the criminal justice system and make it more efficient. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
