AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A COMMUNITY HOUSING PROGRAM IN SANDOVAL AND BERNALILLO COUNTIES FOR SEX OFFENDERS AND OTHER PERSONS RELEASED FROM PRISON.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local government division of the department of finance and administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 for a community housing program in Sandoval and Bernalillo counties for persons released from prison, including those convicted of sex crimes. The program shall find housing for persons released from prison who are originally from, or whose residence prior to incarceration was in, Sandoval or Bernallilo county and shall require their participation in other available services such as counseling and job search assistance. The program shall require participants to contribute to the cost of their housing and to maintain their housing units to established standards. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
