FOR THE WELFARE REFORM OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR LOW-INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Ten million dollars ($10,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 to provide for home heating and weatherization for households that qualify for the low-income home energy assistance program. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
