AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO EXPAND LEGAL SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME PERSONS STATEWIDE.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the civil legal services fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2009 and subsequent fiscal years for the civil legal services commission to contract for increased services providing legal assistance to low-income persons in New Mexico. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
