A MEMORIAL
DECLARING MARCH 15, 2007 "COWBOY DAY" AT THE SENATE AND
RECOGNIZING JULY 28, 2007 AS "NEW MEXICO DAY OF THE COWBOY".
WHEREAS, cowboys are a fundamental part of New Mexico's
reputation as a leading ranching state; and
WHEREAS, representing a diversity that is uniquely
American, cowboys come from all walks of life, transcending
age, race, gender and generation, and their work ethic and code
of conduct have long infused our great state and nation with
pride and their values have set an example for many; and
WHEREAS, in the state's early years, cowboys worked
throughout the "Land of Enchantment", blazing trails as
explorers and guardians of a growing American frontier, and
their legacy lives on today as men and women literally walk in
the cowboys' footsteps, working and living upon the land; and
