    Your JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE MEMORIAL 25

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

     1.   On page 1, lines 11 and 12, strike "THE INSURANCE DIVISION OF THE PUBLIC REGULATION COMMISSION TO STUDY" and insert in lieu thereof "A STUDY OF".

     2. On page 2, line 10, strike "and".

     3. On page 2, strike lines 11 through 25 and on page 3, strike lines 1 through 4 and insert in lieu thereof the following:

     "NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that a liaison committee composed of three members of the New Mexico medical society, three members of the New Mexico trial lawyers association, the superintendent of insurance and a member of the house of representatives appointed by the speaker of the house study the merits and effects of revising the limitation of recovery for malpractice claims under the Medical Malpractice Act; and".

     4. On page 3, lines 5 and 6, strike "insurance division of the public regulation commission" and insert in lieu thereof "liaison committee".

     5. On page 3, line 7, strike "by November 1, 2007".

     6. On page 3, line 8, after “committee,” insert “the legislative courts, corrections and justice committee,”.
