A JOINT MEMORIAL
HONORING NEW MEXICO VETERANS AND PROCLAIMING NOVEMBER AS "SALUTE TO VETERANS MONTH".
WHEREAS, New Mexico has a rich military legacy dating back over four hundred years; and
WHEREAS, New Mexicans have served their country even before statehood; and
WHEREAS, New Mexico is proud of its buffalo soldiers, rough riders, New Mexico volunteers, code talkers, Bataan death march survivors and veterans of Korea, Vietnam, Lebanon, Granada, Panama, Somalia, the Persian gulf, Afghanistan and Iraq; and
WHEREAS, New Mexico is also proud of its citizen soldiers serving in the New Mexico national guard; and
WHEREAS, the New Mexico legislature seeks to honor all New Mexico veterans;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that all citizens of the state be urged to honor the service and sacrifices of all New Mexico veterans; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the month of November be proclaimed "Salute to Veterans Month" throughout the state of New Mexico; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the governor, all state agencies and statewide offices of the veterans of foreign wars.
