Senate Memorial 38 declares March 1, 2007 as “Central New Mexico Community College Day"

at the Senate.

SIGNIFICANT ISSUES

Senate Memorial 38 states that on June 2, 2006, Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute

changed its name to Central New Mexico Community College (CNMCC) to represent more

accurately its mission and service area. CNMCC has provided “education you can use" for more

than forty years. Hundreds of thousands of individuals have improved their quality of life by

obtaining an education from CNMCC and the college is considered New Mexico’s premier

community college.

CNMCC has built a regional and national reputation for its high-quality training, innovative

programs and positive impact upon economic development. CNMCC has earned state and

national awards for quality and it enjoys high staff satisfaction rates with students, faculty and

staff, alumni, employers and with the community at large.

The Senate desires to recognize CNMCC for its invaluable contributions to the greater

Albuquerque area and the State of New Mexico. The Senate of the State of New Mexico requests

that March 1, 2007 be declared “Central New Mexico Community College Day" at the Senate.
