Synopsis of Bill
Senate Memorial 10 proclaims Thursday, February 8, 2007, as “ARCA DAY" at the New
Mexico State Senate and requests that recognition and appreciation be extended to ARCA in
honor of its fiftieth anniversary.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The memorial provides the following:
•
ARCA began providing community-based support services with its child study center and
its preschool and recreational programs in 1957; and
•
ARCA was founded by a group of caring families seeking community-based
opportunities for their developmentally disabled children; and
•
ARCA continues to honor the preference of people with developmental disabilities to
live, work and play in their local communities through its encouragement and support of
families and the greater Albuquerque community; and
•
ARCA is the state's largest not-for-profit provider of services to the developmentally
disabled, offering an array of critical support services to over five hundred children and
adults each year; and
