SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 1158 allows the Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Bureau to have
different expiration dates for annual licenses.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
None
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
Currently by statute, the DOT Traffic Safety Bureau licenses all Driver Education, Driving
Safety, and DWI Education Schools. The DOT Traffic Safety Bureau also licenses all Ignition
Interlock providers. This amounts to approximately 170 licenses per year. In addition, the DOT
Traffic Safety Bureau also licenses over 500 individuals annually to operate, teach, and provide
services for these programs.
