Synopsis of Bill

Senate Corporations and Transportation Committee Substitute for Senate Bill 987 allows the

state purchasing agent, central purchasing officer or a responsible bidder or responsible offeror to

remove a component from the specifications of an invitation to bid or a request for proposals and

procure the component on a separate invitation to bid, request for proposals or sole source.

SIGNIFICANT ISSUES

Senate Corporations and Transportation Committee Substitute for Senate Bill 987 allows the

state purchasing agent and others who determine that there is only one source for a specific

services, construction or item of tangible personal property that is required in the specifications

to require any bid or offer submitted by a subcontractor or supplier to price separately the

specific service construction or item of tangible personal property.
