SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 858 is an act relating to higher education, creating the College Assistance Migrant
Program (CAMP) at New Mexico State University (NMSU). CAMP is created at NMSU to
serve educational needs of migrant and seasonal farm workers who are students at the university
by offering sufficient support to ensure participants' success in the first year of college and by
maintaining communication with former participants to ensure they receive the support they need
to graduate.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
This Bill does not provide funding to address the implementation of the provisions of the Bill.
HB142 and SB27 are companion bills to SB858 that each request $200,000 to fund CAMP
