SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 762 appropriates $36,000 from the General Fund to the NM Tech Regents for
expenditure in FY 2008 for Tech’s National Cave and Karst Research Institute to restore
previous cuts and provide the appropriate matching funds as required by the U.S. National Park
Service.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $36,000 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the General Fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY 2008 shall revert to the
General Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The National Cave and Karst Research Institute in Carlsbad, NM was created by an Act of
Congress in 1998 to further the research, education, and wise management of cave/karst
