Youth Commission in efforts to implement youth commissions statewide.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
DFA reports that the Las Vegas Youth Commission (Commission) was established through the
federal program "Communities that Care" in 1998. The Commission is made up of junior and
high school students who are appointed by the Las Vegas City Council. The goal of the
Commission is to train today's youth to be tomorrow's leader. The Commission is also a
functioning Board of the City Council and meets when needed by the full Council.
