SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 716 appropriates $85.0 from the General Fund to DFA to increase residential
capacity for a teen court program in Santa Fe County.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $85.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the General Fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY08 shall revert to the General
Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Teen Court Program is administered by the Santa Fe County Health and Human Services
Department. Alternative or Teen Court is where first time juvenile offenders are sentenced to
community service, serving on jury duty, and an educational component to fit the crime. The
court does not determine innocence or guilt. Teens are judged and sentenced by a teen jury.
