Synopsis of Bill

Senate Bill 707 appropriates $150 thousand from the general fund to the board of regents of New

Mexico highlands university for the purpose of a men’s wrestling program

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The appropriation of $150 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general

fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY08 shall revert to the

general fund.

SIGNIFICANT ISSUES

It is unknown how the appropriation in SB 707 will be spent. According to the NMHU website,

the wrestling program has 22 members; six returning from last year. This is still a relatively new

program at NMHU.
