SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 654 amends Section 60-6A-15 (N), licensing fees for club licenses. For clubs with
any amount of members the fee would be $250. The current statute charges two rates depending
on how many member a club has. For clubs with two hundred fifty members or fewer, the cur-
rent fee is two hundred fifty dollars ($250). For clubs with more than two hundred fifty mem-
bers, the current fee is one thousand two hundred fifty dollars ($1250). SB 654 would amend the
Liquor Control Act so that “ALL" club licenses would pay $250 for license renewal annually.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
Currently New Mexico has 159 club licenses. Sixty percent of these licenses pay $1250 annually
to renew their licenses. If SB 654 were enacted the State of NM would lose approximately
$95,000 to the General Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Regulation and Licensing Department is concerned their revenue would decrease with Sen-
ate Bill 654.
