FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $4,613.2 million contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the General
Fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY08 shall revert to the
General Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The bill awards compensation increases for all staff of the district attorney at varying levels
based upon classification. These increases are necessary to address market conditions impacting
both recruitment and retention of staff within the offices of the district attorney.
TECHNICAL ISSUES
The language should be clarified to distinguish between elected district attorneys and staff
attorneys.
WHAT WILL BE THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT ENACTING THIS BILL
Special compensation increases for staff attorneys within the offices of the district attorney have
been recommended for inclusion in the General Appropriations Act.
