SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 593 appropriates $300,000 from the General Fund to the Board of Regents of UNM
for expenditure in FY 2008 to fund college preparatory mentoring programs at the UNM School
of Law for students in eighth through twelfth grades in Albuquerque.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $300,000 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the General Fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY 2008 shall revert to the
General Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
ENLACE (Engaging Latino Communities in Education) students, parents and staff will use law
school facilities to plan and coordinate their work with APS, TVI and UNM. Law School faculty
have been working with ENLACE to extend its vision of a pipeline to encourage middle school
