SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 484 would appropriate $100,000 to the Department of Health (DOH) to provide
respite services for the mentally ill and their families. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
DOH notes that the funding in SB 484 is not in the executive budget for DOH or for HSD.
DOH notes that respite services for adults with mental illness are not part of the NM Medicaid
benefit package except in limited exceptions (see discussion below under significant issues).
