SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 336 provides for the type and number of emergency drills conducted in public and
private schools statewide.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
Senate Bill 336 requires that one-half of the prescribed drills conducted throughout the school
year be shelter-in-place drills and that the other half shall be evacuation drills for fire and other
emergencies, conducted in a manner prescribed by the department.
SB-336 also provides that each emergency drill be observed by the appropriate authority, fire
department, police department, or other authority as necessary for the purpose of giving instruc-
tion and constructive.
