Synopsis of Bill

House Bill 751 appropriates $190 thousand from the general fund to the Public Education

Department for at-risk students at Silver High Opportunity School in Grant County.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS

The appropriation of $190 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general

fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall

revert to the general fund.

The LFC remains concerned with funding initiatives outside of the funding formula as it tends to

disequalize school funding and diverts funding away from core educational needs.

At-risk funding is included in the General Appropriations Act under the School Improvement

Framework funding.
